The main aspects of General Practice (GP) include diagnosis and assessment of patients. GPs/family doctors carry out comprehensive assessments of patients to diagnose medical conditions. These assessments include medical history, physical examination and laboratory or imaging tests. General practitioners provide primary health care and coordinate, when necessary, care in other areas of specialisation (internal medicine, surgery, endocrinology, diabetes, cardiology, etc.).
Online General Practice consultation allows you to get a medical opinion, a second opinion on an already diagnosed medical problem or medical advice from the comfort of your own home without the need to travel to a physical doctor’s practice. It also allows you to discuss more sensitive issues that you don’t feel comfortable discussing in a real, face-to-face conversation.
Medical advice can therefore be:
– initial consultation: in which you want the opinion of a medical specialist, to get a diagnosis and referal to further medical services for treatment
– second opinion: to discuss a diagnosis already stated by a medical specialist (including a family doctor), about which the patient has doubts or needs further clarification
– a simple, concise and quick opinion on a single diagnosis, treatment or any sign/symptom (e.g. “Which form of magnesium would be best for my situation?” or “I only took antibiotic for 3 days, forgot to take as prescribed. What can I do now?”), which only requires a short phone call or e-mail.
The Therapeutica concept thus also includes the possibility to provide general medical advice, additional explanations for understanding an existing diagnosis or the interpretation of signs and symptoms specific to certain pathologies.
